At the end of march 2019 I traveled to Espinho the Academia de Música to do a masterclass.
Of which I was inivted to be guest professor for the percussion class for the academic year 2019/2020.
So the first 14 hours of teaching took place. I was really moved by the way the percussion class was willing to work with me. The young students showed a lot of discipline and curiosity, so that we could have a really intensive time with a lot of music and joy!
Working on many topics first of all I introduced my meta-level concept, which covers the aspects of IDEA, KNOWLEDGE, TIME and BODY, which I developed some years ago together with my husband, recurring to my percussion experience in gerneral, my “countless” translated masterclasses at the Days of Percussion Italy and my and our experience of traveling to percussion events worldwide and working at the ITALY PAS Days of Percussion and Italy Percussion Competition together:
E.g. we also worked together on” Sound of japanese drums” from Ludwig Albert, to make the differenc of having an idea in common as an percussion ensemble to be perceptible.
As well as we worked on tools “how to analyse” percussion literature:
Working with the group was inspiring and – I am quite sure – also a lot of fun for all of us!
I am really looking forward to our project 2020. I really hope that I meet most of the students again then!
Last but not least I want to evince my appreciation of the great performance of the ACADEMIA DE MÚSICA DE ESPINHO and it´s faculty.
A special thanks to Rui Rodrigues and Joaquin Alves.
